About Us

NZ Jet is owned and operated by John and Sofia Ambler who have years of experience in the aviation industry, having grown Heletranz Helicopters from two helicopters in 2012 to a fleet of 14 helicopters today. 

 

For John, flying is his passion and his job, he was a Captain for Cathay Pacific  flying the Boeing 747, and is also an experienced helicopter pilot. Since moving to New Zealand John started flying private jets, from the Bombardier Global 7500 to lighter jets like the Citation Ultra.

When the opportunity came to purchase two Citation private jets, Sofia and John were ready to embark on a new aviation project as they identified a need in the market for lighter jets moving around NZ, Australia and The Pacific.

Sofia has a background in client management from her banking experience in Europe and Hong Kong. She was responsible for growing the Heletranz client base and is now looking after the customer experience at NZ Jet.
